"Stan The Man" Benson Thanks to everyone who came to The Reel Thing Catfish Cafe in Allen last Saturday night to share your songs and your memories to Honor and Celebrate the life of our beloved friend and Karaoke family member, Stan "The Man" Benson. There were lots of people there. In addition to our "regulars", there were co-workers, friends, and singers from other karaoke shows where Stan had attended. Everyone shared, and it was great to hear all the stories. It was standing room only. We had a candle-lighting, and a toast. Someone had created a Computer Slide Show with Photos of Stan's life and it also had some recordings of Stan singing. If you'd like a copy, please let me know. It meant a lot to me to be able to share my love and my loss with others who knew and loved Stan too. Thanks for making it a Very Special Night. Bettylu Perkins, (Heather Perkins' mother) passed away in Dallas, Texas on Thursday, July 8, 2010 , and was laid to rest on Thursday, July 15, 2010 . Bettylu was a thoughtful, friendly, caring, and fun-loving person. She and Heather (her daughter), along with some of their friends used to frequent our shows at the "old" Hamby's location in Downtown Dallas, where we had a show from 2001 - 2006. She didn't sing, but liked to listen and Heather loved to dance. I will cherish the fond memories of her and the joy her presence brought into my life.
